Richard is a natural, charismatic leader with 25+ years of experience in the South African Sponsorship industry.
He is well connected in Corporate South Africa holding relationships at a C-Suite level at many Blue-Chip Corporates, Rightsholders & Media owners and his contacts extend across Africa and into Europe.
Working in various Sponsorship Agencies he managed some of South Africa's largest Sponsorship accounts in MTN, Vodacom, Standard Bank, Absa, Toyota, SASOL, Yellow Pages, Nestle, Eskom, Emirates, BP & Castrol during FWC2010.
Moving into Commercial Sponsorship Sales, Richard brokered Huawei’s entry into the South African Sponsorship market before purchasing Flash Sponsorship in 2022 where under his leadership has steered the Business on a successful growth trajectory representing a select group of Rightsholders.
Richard specialises in building relationships based on delivery & trust, is strategic in his outlook to Sponsorship sales, can read the market and forecast trends and possesses tenacity and perseverance to convert leads into Sponsors
Born & bred in KZN, Richard was educated at Kearsney College, has a Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSocSci) from UCT, a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PDM) from Wits Business School and has completed the Sponsorship Sales Certificate (SSC) from the European Sponsorship Association.
Richard is a natural sportsman having the ability to play competitively at most sports (“anything with a ball in my hand” he says). He excelled at Water polo, captaining & coaching Central Gauteng to win the Currie Cup on separate occasions and remains active to this day playing for his Club team Saints. In his day, Richard captained the South African National Water Polo team.
